Pet Quality
These are the unique puppies that can't be part of the breeding program for one reason or another. Be it that they have a miss mark, line-specific breeding restriction, or a disqualifying fault via the breed standard (Kinked tail, Missing tooth, etc).
Pet Upgradable
These are the Wonderful pups that meet the requirements to be breedable, but might have one or two minor faults via the breed standard that they may or may not grow out of.
Breed Quality
These pups are the future of the breed. They best embody the breed standard in conformation, structure, gait, and temperament. These puppies will go out on gender-specific co-ownership contracts.
Special Circumstances
Occasionally puppies with specific needs may be placed in approved "Foster homes" at no charge to their adoptive families—very specific requirements and contracts apply.
Pricing
While many of our clients are from the United States and our breed club is American-based, Wilderness Kennels is located in Canada. To simplify logistics for our domestic families, we list our pricing in Canadian dollars (CAD). However, we continue to welcome our American families and accept both Canadian and American currencies for all payments.
Wilderness Kennels also does not believe in pricing puppies based on size, gender, or coat colour. As a result, there will be no differences in price between littermates. The time and resources I invested into each individual puppy is identical no matter how the puppies end up scoring at their litter evaluation. Instead, I focus on matching the right puppy to the right owners. I want to see each one of these pups thrive, growing up to be their very best selves.
Each puppy, depending on how they are scored by the certified litter evaluators, will come with specific contracts and responsibilities for the new owners. (Any puppy discovered to have inherited a life-altering health condition prior to 8 weeks will be placed in a responsible "foster home" at no charge to the adopter. (Foster homes are extensively vetted, and specific experience might be required in some situations.)
Puppy Application
NOTE: All of the pups from the following litters will be required to complete our health testing (24 hour holter, OFA or PennHip hip/elbow x-rays). Since I generally request that pets not be altered (neutered or spayed) prior to 18-24 months for the health of the dog, I may opt to collect semen for shipping or Cryogenic freezing on some of the males in order to further preserve these lines.
Preference to breeding homes (or homes that are willing to leave a dog intact or whelp a co-owned litter) in order to move these genetics forward will be given priority.
